Canadian singer/songwriter Bruce Callow is embarking
on his first Australian solo tour to support the
release of his debut single "Prisoner"
from the album "Red Alert".
Bruce covers vast musical territory from rock,
folk, blues, punk and beyond. His lyrics evoke
strong emotions that reflect his experience and
travels in Nicaragua in the 80's. His work with
Central American refugees helped form a strong
bond with this region and his commitment to social
justice.
Before relocating to Costa Rica in 1992 Bruce
fronted award winning power pop bands the "21Hundrez"
and "The New Nationalist's" and he has
toured with bands such as "Tragically Hip",
"Meat Loaf" and "The Wailers".
"The New Internationalist's" are now
reunited with their first album in 10 years "Red
Alert", being recorded in San Jose, Costa
Rica and Calgary Canada, and has been sponsored
by Costa Rica's English rock station 107.5 FM.
The track "Prisoner" which was inspired
after a gig at a women's prison in Costa Rica,
has been released with the assistance of Canberra
label MCB Records and Brisbane label, GS Records
on their compilation CD "Time is Now".
It was also released on A.I.R. (Australian Independent
Record Label's) International compilation CD,
which has received extensive airplay from community
stations around the country.
